Consultations with CNI referred to in government report

Government of Canada response to the House of Commons Natural Resources Committee report on the nuclear sector. Oct 5, 2017. This report outlines a set of options it will examine that is very similar to the CNI’s proposal (page 6-7).

  • “The Government is engaging with stakeholders in nuclear R&D, the broader user community of neutron beams in Canada, and potential partners to explore the full range of possible options and models for access to high flux neutrons”

The Government’s response describes short-term, medium term and long-term options:

  • access to foreign facilities,
  • developing a domestic source of medium-flux neutrons at McMaster, complemented by foreign access, and
  • building a new domestic source of high-flux neutrons.

These recommendations are similar to presentations to the committee by members of the CNI working group from McMaster.
